Who will stand up, when the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform meets this Thursday to hold a hearing on Terrorist Travel: Vetting for National Security Concerns, and admit that there is not much cause for concern?

According to a study by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, there are 200,000 deaths in the United States every year caused by air pollution. 53,000 of these deaths are caused by pollutants spewed out by cars, trucks, motorcycles and buses.

On average, two people are killed in the United States by Muslim terrorists. That’s a ratio of one hundred thousand to one, air pollution to terrorists.

If Muslim terrorists from the Islamic State were able to unleash one attack the size of the San Bernardino shootings every single day of the year, it would take them ten years at that rate to match the number of Americans already killed by the pollutants released by ground transportation in the United States in just one year.

If Congress is truly terrified of terrorist travel, it ought to be bringing executives from Detroit’s automotive manufacturers in to testify about what they can do do clean up their vehicles at a faster rate.

We won’t see that, of course. The Republican Party is seeking to give corporate polluters in the United States even bigger loopholes than they already have, to enable them to release even more killer toxins into American air.

If the Islamic State did that, GOP politicians would rightly call it terrorism. How come those same GOP politicians seek to enable the chemical warfare unleashed by the car industry?

Presidential candidate Ted Cruz says that there’s no reason for the government to do anything to try to prevent the 200,000 air pollution deaths America suffers from every year. “You let the market work it out,” Cruz says.

Ted Cruz is certainly letting the market work out his agenda of ignoring the massive wave of death caused year after year by air pollution in the USA. For his 2012 U.S. Senate election alone, Ted Cruz accepted three quarters of a million dollars from sources aligned with fossil fuels marketers.

The political career of Ted Cruz has been bankrolled by environmental terrorists. It’s no wonder he refuses to stand against their deadly interests.
